Plant Growth Rooms Supplied & installed at Reading University
Weiss Gallenkamp have recently been awarded the contract to supply and install three High Specification Plant Growth Rooms within the School of Biological Sciences at this prestigious University.
The School of Biological Sciences is a research intensive institution, which prides itself on the excellence and relevance of its degree programmes. The School was formed in 2005 from the former Schools of Animal and Microbial Sciences, Applied Statistics and Plant Sciences. The amalgamation of the former Schools has resulted in a large investment in new infrastructure with the new Biomedical Sciences building being completed at a cost of £20m which provides additional excellent facilities for cutting edge research. To perform this level of research the facilities need to be state of the art, with high specifications, high performance levels and exceptional reliability, due to the value of the research that the facilities underpin. The experiments and research performed demand precise control and uniformity of conditions such as temperature and humidity, and these are core attributes of the Weiss Gallenkamp Plant Growth Rooms.
The lighting system installed will utilize the latest highly energy efficient technology, and will deliver high light levels and infinitely controllable light levels via the programmer. This will provide the users with a wide range of simulated climatic conditions.
The three rooms will be equipped with adaptable shelving allowing for changing user requirements.
The rooms will be used for various experiments, and will be particularly suitable for culturing plants and insects, which forms a key element of the university's research.
To quote Professor Paul Hadley "After fully researching the market, we are convinced that Weiss Gallenkamp are the only manufacturer capable of meeting our specifications"
