Composites 2007
Weiss Gallenkamp recently delivered a paper at the Composites 2007 conference in Runcorn.
The conference featured papers from a variety of professionals within the composites industry, and also training & research establishments.
Weiss Gallenkamp MD Mike Reilly was first to deliver a paper, offering an insight into the Hephaistos Microwave Oven.
The Hephaistos offers revolutionary technology as the unique nature of the hexagonal shaped oven together with the control systems enables the production a homogenous microwave field inside the oven. There is no need to rotate the product as is done in a domestic microwave oven.
The homogenous microwave field inside the oven produces high quality structures leading the way to stronger products containing less material.
The HEPHAISTOS system is ideal for use within the Aerospace and Automotive sectors where glass fibre and carbon fibre is extensively used.
As microwaves are used as the heating medium:
- The cycle time is significantly reduced as there is no need to heat the total oven - microwaves only heat the product.
- There are significant savings in running costs due to shorter heating and cooling times.
- Improvements in product quality are clearly visible due to homogenous heating.
Weiss Gallenkamp also took the opportunity to exhibit a range of products suited to the composites industry, such as Vibration Test Chambers, Shock Test Chambers and the brand new WT3/WK3 Temperature & Climatic Test Chambers.
Following a very well received presentation, MD Mike Reilly commented: "Composites 2007 offered Weiss Gallenkamp to showcase one of the most technologically advanced products in it's field. It was a good opportunity for us to demonstrate the capabilities of the Hephaistos to a relevant audience, and the feedback received was extremely positive."
Weiss Gallenkamp manufacture & design standard & bespoke Environmental Test Chambers, Temperature Test Chambers Pharmaceutical Stability Test Cabinets and Humidity Test Chambers.
In addition to this, special projects are also undertaken such as Altitude Test Chambers, Pharmaceutical Stability Test Rooms, Plant Growth Rooms and applications for Automotive & Aerospace testing.
