Our Athlete Test Rooms are used not just to test athletic performance in extreme environmental conditions but can also be used to investigate how individuals perform in various inhospitable climatic conditions with varying equipment and clothing.

Athlete test chamberBy simulating different climatic conditions, athletes are able to prepare for specific competitive events and identify specific training requirements.

Research staff are able to monitor athlete performance from outside the room by observing through the window and by monitoring physiological outputs.

These walk in climatic rooms replicate a variety of temperature and humidity ranges. Temperature ranges are available from -40°C to +55°C with variable humidity from 5%RH to 98%RH over a specific temperature range.

Where needed carbon dioxide and moisture levels are controlled. Hypoxic testing can be achieved by the introduction of nitrogen to simulate high altitudes. Fans can be installed to replicate “wind” conditions.

Exercise machines such as treadmills and rowing machines can be used inside the room which is designed to cater for the heat dissipated from the machines and the athletes so that the desired condition is maintained.
