Products made of polymers such as laminates and vehicle paints and textiles need to withstand extremes in climatic conditions.
Particularly damaging are:
UV light in sunlight and background radiation cause alterations in the surface composition of materials, creating effects such as dullness, discolouration, cracks and brittleness.
Our Global UV test unit uses special fluorescent lamps with a wavelength range of 290nm to 450nm. This wide wavelength range allows testing to standards such as DIN 53 384 and ISO 4892 - 3.
The Global UV unit is the only unit which precisely allows climatisation of the test chamber, so ensuring that test results can be reproduced and compared.
Industrialised countries often experience acid rain with pH>1. The Global UV chamber allow testing with acid precipitation of pH>3. An auxillary unit allows cyclic variation in acid precipitation of 1<pH<7 during UV irradiation, without exposing the test chamber to corrosion.
